Christmas Blessings from the Class of 2016

We joyfully welcomed our Class of 2016 with an annual Sending Ceremony on December 10. This wonderful group included eight new Maryknoll Lay Missioners and four children. This brief video message was recorded that evening. Please click here to see more information and the full video of the ceremony!

The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom
a light has shone……. (from Midnight Mass on the 24th)

The season of Advent, a time of reflection and anticipation, is coming to a close as we prepare once again to receive the Holy One, the Christ, the Bearer of good news, peace, hope and light in this ever-challenging world.

As we look forward to celebrating with family and friends, we give thanks for all of our blessings received during the year. Some of us have much to be thankful for and others face major challenges, poverty and loneliness. We have witnessed many atrocities this year, especially in recent days. Among some of the saddest stories are those of the refugees from areas like Syria and other places around the world. Like the Holy Family, they yearn for a sense of hope and an encounter with peace.

Maryknoll Lay Missioners are agents of hope. Through our ministries on three continents, we share this hope through a variety of actions: nutrition programs, medical attention, training in an assortment of skills, and restorative justice, to name a few. But our ministries would not exist, and our missioners would not be serving, if it weren’t for each one of you! You make it all possible and are truly our partners, in this mission that God has put forth.

In the name of all Maryknoll Lay Missioners, our staff, and our Board of Directors, we want to express our gratitude for your accompaniment and for your prayers and financial support. We treasure each and every one of you and say “thank you” with deepest, heartfelt sincerity. MKLM wishes you and yours a joy-filled Christmas, and may 2017 be a year that the light of Christ illuminates all humanity to walk in this grace that Jesus offers.

We also pray that this Christmas you will support Maryknoll Lay Missioners and help us continue to bring the gift of peace to those who truly need God’s presence in their lives.
