Mission Discernment Resources

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA“Why am I here?” is one of the most basic questions we can ask of God. What is my deeper purpose? It may not be a question we think of everyday, but asking this question is an important part of the spiritual life for most of us. This question has to do with something the Christian tradition speaks of as “vocation” or “call.”

Discernment is a spiritual practice for listening for and seeking God’s will. This practice has been known to many, for centuries, who have struggled to hear the voice of God in their own lives and to understand their vocation. Discovering why you are here is linked to the lifelong process of learning who you are.

If you are considering international mission service, come discern with us at one of our four Discernment Retreats. And, don’t miss these exciting upcoming MKLM events!

Tools for Discernment

When individuals are considering a call to mission, they often ask us what our missioners do when they return from mission service.  The truth is that the experience of mission is transformational and missioners often return to the United States with a desire to continue serving and unfolding what they have come to know and understand in their sacred experience of living and working with other peoples and cultures.  Click on the link below to read a few of their stories.
